The Sweeping continues as Fisher takes home Conference Awards


Canton, NY - It was announced this morning that a quartet of Fisher College Student-Athletes have won weekly awards in the Sunrise Conference. For Baseball, junior Mike Oliveira (Tewksbury, MA) took home the Player of the Week and senior Patrick Shanahan (Haverhill, MA) was awarded the Pitcher of the Week award. In Softball, the Player of the Week was senior Jackie Streeter (Westminster, MA) and freshman Mika Wilson (Chelsea, ME) was named the Pitcher of the Week.

Baseball

Player of the Week – Mike Oliveira (Jr., Infield, Fisher College)

Mike is named Player of the Week after batting .615 in five games this past week. The junior infielder from Tewksbury, Mass. went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in a 5-0 win over SUNY Canton and he also went 3-for-3 and scored twice in an 11-0 win over the Roos. Mike stole two bases and finished with a .692 slugging percentage.

Pitcher of the Week- Patrick Shanahan (Sr., Pitcher, Fisher College)

Patrick earns the award after not allowing any earned runs in two games this week. The senior hurler from Haverhill, Mass. struck out 11 batters and allowed just three hits and two walks in seven innings in a 5-0 win over SUNY Canton. He also gave up just one hit in 2/3 innings of work in a 2-1 loss to Briarcliffe College.


Softball

Player of the Week– Jackie Streeter (Sr., Catcher, Fisher College)

Jackie is honored after batting .714 in four games this past week. The senior catcher from Westminster, Mass. led the Falcons to three wins with a pair of home runs, two doubles and a triple. She drove in five runs, scored eight times, drew eight walks, and threw out one runner from behind the plate. Jackie’s two home runs and a triple came in a 5-2 win over SUNY Canton.

Pitcher of the Week – Mika Wilson (Fr., Pitcher, Fisher College)

Mika is honored this week after recording 13 strikeouts in two wins. The freshman pitcher from Chelsea, Maine fanned eight batters and scattered four hits over seven innings in a 5-2 win over SUNY Canton. She then had five strikeouts while allowing 11 hits and five walks over eight innings in a 12-9 extra inning win over the Roos.
