Texas Trip - Day 7

Welcome ladies and gentleman, to Fisher College Falcon Baseball. Unfortunately, I can not do a live blog during the game since there is no internet connection at Riverside Stadium.

Here is the entire game play-by-play, be careful when you read this... it gets ugly.

Welcome fans. Here is the entire game play-by-play for this afternoon’s game between your Falcons of Fisher College versus the host University of Houston at Victoria Jaguars. Last night game was lost in the bottom of the 7th , when Fisher gave up 8 runs. The game was very close as Houston-Victoria had a slim 4-2 lead going into that fateful 7th. Tom Englehardt will be the Desingated Hitter today following being hit by a pitch in the knee from last night’s starter Casey Newman. Freshman Gary Lunetta will be his replacement at thrid base. Here are the complete starting lineups for both schools. Fisher will be the visiting team and wearing their home white pinstripes. Houston-Victoria will be wearing their red jerseys with their white pants.

Top 1 – Due Up: Oliveira, Delcarmen, Englehardt

Oliveira grounds one to short, Rothman to Garcia, 1 out. Delcarmen singles off of the glove of Rothman who tried to make the play in the hole. Englehardt swings at the first pitch and grounds to third, West throws to McDonald covering second to force out Delcarmen. 2 outs, Englehardt on first. Pena singles off of the left field wall, Englehardt advances to third. Austin Brodie is now on to courtesy run for Pena. Mondello chops one weakly up the middle, Rothman makes the paly and throws to Garcia to end the inning.

Bottom 1 – Due Up: McDonald, Bromberg, Green

McDonald hits the first pitch from Luciano and deposits it over the left field wall for a home run. Bromberg hits a line drive base hit over Ryan’s head at short. Green pops one up in the infield, Delcasremn is under it, 1 out. Williams continues where he left off last night and hits a two run home run to left. Rothman doubles to right. Head Coach Scott Dulin makes a visit to the mound to talk to Luciano. The Fisher bullpen is quiet. West strikes out looking, 2 away. Baker strikes out swinging to end the inning.

Olivo strikes out swinging to begin the inning. 1 out. Lunetta strikes out looking on an outside fastball. 2 outs. Ryan strikes out swinging to end the inning.

Bottom 2 – Due Up: Garcia, Darnell, McDonald

Garcia check swings and taps one to the right side of the mound. Delcarmen fields it and tosses to Luciano covering first for the out. 1 down. Darnell singles to the left center gap. #6 Chris Neiser is on to courtesy run for Darnell. McDonald swings at the first pitch again and singles sharply up the middle. Runners now at first and second. Bromberg hits one up the middle, Oliveira fields it, tags out McDonald but throws it away. Neiser scores and Bromberg advances to second. Wild pitch, that allows Bromberg to go to third. Green hits one back to Luciano, who throws to Delcarmen to retire the side.

Eusebio strikes out swinging, 1 out. Oliveira hits one up the middle, Rothman is there to make the play, 2 outs. Delcarmen lifts one to right center, Williams is there to make the catch and retire the side.

Bottom 3 – Due Up: Williams, Rothman, West

Williams pops one weakly to Lunetta, 1 out. Rothman skies one in the infield, no one can make the catch and Rothman is aboard with a hit. West walks. Runners now at first and second. Baker hits a ground ball in the hole at short, Ryan makes the incredible play as he fields it and throws to Oliveira covering second to force out West. 2 outs. Baker reaches via fielder’s choice and Rothman advances to third. Garcia hits one into the left center gap, Rothman scores. Garcia takes too wide of a turn at first and is tagged out by Delcarmen to end the inning.

Englehardt grounds out to second, McDonald to Garica, 1 out. Pena singles underneath the glove of the diving McDonald at second for a base hit. Brodie is back into courtesy run. Mondello strikes out swinging, 2 outs. Olivo hits one up the box, Hitt makes the play to end the inning.

Bottom 4 – Due Up: Darnell, McDonald, Bromberg

Darnell hits one towards short, Ryan can’t make the play and is charged with the error. Neiser is back into courtesy run for Darnell. McDonald hits the third pitch he sees on the day and hits another home run to left. Bromberg pops one up in foul ground, Delcarmen makes the catch for the first out. Green is hit by the pitch. Green steals second on a good throw from Pena but Ryan is unable to apply the tag. Williams walks. Rothman hits a line drive to right, Olivo makes the catch for the second out. Williams misreads the sign at first and takes off for second, Green doesn’t go anywhere and is forced to make the move to third. Pena chases him down and makes Green commit to third. Green is eventually tagged out by Ryan to end the inning.

Lunetta strikes out swinging. 1 away. Pinch Hitter for the Falcons #26 Jesse Avalos, he is hitting fro Ryan. Avalos is hit by a pitch, barely on the shirt. Another pinch hitter for Fisher, #47 Matt Mondello is now hitting for Eusebio. Matt Mondello strikes out swinging. 2 outs. Another pinch hitter for Fisher, #9 Matthew Hendy is on to hit for Oliveira. Hendy is a grounder to the left side of the mound, West fields it and throws to Garcia to end the inning.

Garcia hits one to right, Avalos is under it to record the second out. Darnell hits a two run homer to left. McDonald swings at the first pitch again, and grounds to short, Hendy to Nunez, to end the inning.

Freshman JJ Navas starts to swing a bat and will likely pinch hit for Englehardt. Nunez strikes out swinging, 1 out. Navas is now hitting for Englehardt. Navas grounds to second baseman McDonald, who throws to first for the second out. Pena strikes out swinging to end the inning.

Pinching Change - #43 JT O’Niell is on to pitch for Fisher College

Bromberg walks. O’Niell’s curve ball attempt goes behind Green for a wild pitch, that allows Bromberg to advance to second. Green walks, runners now at first and second. Austin Brodie and Mark Dorso now beginning to get loose in the Falcon ‘pen. Williams hits one to first, Nunez “Buckner’s” the play as it goes through his legs. That allows Bromberg to score and Green to go all the way to third. Williams ends up on second. Rothman hits a swinging bunt down the third base line, no play for anyone and a run scores. Runners now at first and third. Both Brodie and Dorso have sat down and Joe Aniki begins to throw in the pen along with #56 Yeouritz Monterio. West walks. Head Coach Scott Dulin makes another pitching change as Yeoritz Monterio comes in to the ball game. Monteiro walks Baker, that forces in a run. Garcia is hit by a pitch, another run comes in. Darnell hits a two RBI sinlge past the diving Pena at third. #6 Chris Neiser is on to pinch hit for McDonald. Neiser walks, and that the end of the day for Monterio as Head Coach Scott Dulin makes the call to the bullpen and Joe Aniki comes into pitch. Bromberg gets a base hit up the middle, one run scores. Another run scores on Welch’s error. Green hits one into the right center gap. One run scores. Williams hits another ball into the right center gap. Another run scores. Rothaman deposits another ball into the gap, another run scores. Score is now 20-0. #62 Mark Dorso is on to pitch. Hopefully he can record the first out. West hits a three run home run to left. That’s the third straight batter to hit a home run off of Dorso. Baker hits a double down the left field line. Pinch hitter for Houston-Victoria #15 Colter Zoch. Zoch hits one to third, hits off of Pena’s chest for an error. Another pinch hitter #27 Chase Graves is now hitting for Darnell. Dorso finally records the first out of the inning by getting Graves to strike out swinging. Neiser gets hit by the pitch, that’s the end for Dorso as Bench Coach Bill Englehardt comes out and makes the pitching change. #13 Austin Brodie now on to pitch. Pinch hitter #7 Bobby Gomez hits a sac fly to center, 2 outs. Pinch Hitter #8 Ray Maldonado hits a ball to third, Pena fields it cleanly and throws a 98 mph fastball to Nunez, Nunez can’t handle it and Maldonado reaches via error. Bases now loaded. Williams strikes out swinging to FINALLY end the inning.

Welch hits a ground ball to second, West to Williams, 1 out. Olivo hits a ground ball to Williams at first, he corals it and tosses to Hitt who covers first for the second out. Lunetta strikes out swinging to end the game.
