Texas Trip - Day 8

Hello to all in Falcon Nation! Same deal as yesterday's game with the live updates (hopefully not the same result on the field), I will update this page as soon as I get back from the field. Here are the starting lineups for today’s double header. Fisher College will be wearing their Navy Blue jerseys with white navy blue pinstripe pants. Houston Victoria will be wearing their home white jerseys with white pants. Thank God, yesterday they wore their red tops and scored 24 times.

Oliveira singles up the middle. Englehardt doubles down the right field line. Pena singles to right, Oliveira scores, Englehardt advances to third. Gary Lunetta is now on to courtesy run for Pena. Delcarmen lines one to first, it goes off of Garcia’s glove. Englehardt scores and Lunetta advnaces to second. McDougal-Shaver lays down a sacrifice bunt, Gomez to McDonald, 1 out. Runners move to second (Delcarmen) and third (Lunetta). Mondello hits one to West at third, West throws home to try to get Lunetta, who was off on contact. Lunetta crashes into Darnell and wins the battle as Darnell cant hang on to the throw. Lunetta scores, Delcarmen stays at second and Mondello is aboard at first via fielder’s choice. Gomez throws a wild pitch which allows the runners to advance to second and third. Olivo lifts into no man’s land in shallow right, Delcarmen scores. Mondello advances to third. Hendy pops one up behind the first base bag, Garcia makes the catch, 2 outs. Eusebio swings at the first pitch and grounds to first, Garcia fields it and steps on first to end the inning.

McDonald singles to center. Bromberg strikes out swinging on a curve ball. 1 out. Green walks and on ball four, Shanahan throws a wild pitch which allows McDonald to advance to third. Williams doubles off the centerfield wall. 2 runs score. Rothman is hit by a pitch. Runners now at first and second. Another wild pitch by Shanahan, runners advance to second and third. West walks, bases now loaded. Baker singles over Oliveira’s head, Williams scores. Bases still loaded. Garcia hits a sac fly to center, Rothman scores and West advances to third. Darnell hits one towards first, McDougal-Shaver dives and it goes past his glove. Oliveira covers ground well and is able to field it and throw to Shanahan who covers first for the 3-4-1 put out to end the inning.

Green walks on a full count. Green immediately steals second. On a 2-1 pitch, Green attempts to steal third but Pena throws from his knees to Englehardt who applys the tag for the final out.

Delcarmen grounds to short, McDonald makes a nice sliding play, fields it and throws to Gracia for the out. 1 away. McDougal-Shaver hits a ball to deep left center, Baker is there and it goes off the end of his glove for a two base error. McDougal-Shaver now at second. Mondello hits a single to right, the slow Minnesotan is held up at third, runners now on the corners. Olivo pops one up in the infield, McDonald makes the catch, 2 out. Gomez throws a wild pitch and McDougal-Shaver tries to score, Darnell plays the carum and truck stricks McDougal-Shaver for the third out.

Garcia hits a hard ground ball to third, Englehardt’s throw to first is low and McDougal-Shaver can’t pick it, two runs will score. Darnell hits a ball into shallow center, Mondello fields it and tries to throw out Garcia at the plate. Mondello’s throw sails to the backstop, that allows Darnell to advance all the way to third. McDonald walks, runners now at first and third. McDonald steals second. Runners now at second and third. Bromberg strikes out swinging to end the inning.

Pinching Change for Houston Victoria, #6 Chris Neiser comes out of the bullpen. Mondello chops one slowly up the middle, O’Niell was running on the pitch, Rothman throws to first for the second out. Runner at second. Freshman #32 JJ Navas is onto pinch hit for Hendy. Houston Victoria Head Coach Terry Phul makes the move to the pen as #15 Colter Zoch is onto pitch, replacing #6 Neiser. Navas hits one hard back to the mound, Zoch is able to knock it down and throw to first to end the inning.

West singles to left. West then steals second. Baker grounds out to first, McDougal-Shaver fields it and steps on first. West advances to third on the ground out. 1 out. Rothman tries stealing on a 1-1 count and is hosed down by Pena, Pena to Oliveira, inning over.

Rothman hits one down the 1st base line, McDougal-Shave shows his cat-like reflexs and makes the diving play to stop the ball and touches first for the first out. Williams scores. West swings and misses on strike three, ball gets away from Pena, but he’s able to get to it and throw a seed to first for the second out. Baker hits a ball over Englehardt’s head at third for a single. Garcia bounces one to third, Englehardt to McDougal-Shaver, to end the inning.
