Fisher Baseball Wins Fifth Straight Conference Championship

Lynn, MA – The Fisher Baseball team captured its fifth straight Sunrise Conference Championship award by beating the University of Maine at Presque Isle 18-0 in the championship game. Fisher cruised through the tournament by outscoring their opponents 44-7. In the opening round, the #1 seeded Falcons beat the #4 seed State University of New York at Canton, 9-1. Senior Tom Englehardt (Bradford, MA) knocked in two runs and junior Edwin Pena (Union City, NJ) went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Senior Jarlin Gomez (Lawrence, MA) pitched 8 innings allowing 1 run on 6 hits and striking out 13 batters. Game two for the Falcons was the Winners bracket final against #2 seed UMPI. Fisher won 17-6 behind a strong start from Sammy Luciano (Union City, NJ). Luciano gave up 2 runs (both unearned) in the 5 innings he pitched. Freshman Gary Lunetta (North Andover, MA) was 3 for 4 at the plate with 3 RBIs. Also chipping in with 3 RBIs was Engelhardt, who was 2 for 3, and sophomore Kevin Ryan (Cheshire, CT) who was 1 for 3. Junior Juan Eusebio (Union City, NJ) recorded a multi-hit game by going 2 for 2. In the championship game, junior Patrick Shanahan (Haverhill, MA) dazzled the UMPI hitters in his 6 innings of work. Shanahan struckout 10 batters and allowed only 5 hits. Junior Eddie Guerrero (Boston, MA), freshman Austin Brodie (Haverhill, MA) and Ryan kept the UMPI Owls off the board in their inning on the mound. Ryan contributed on the offensive side as well as he was 3 for 6 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs. Englehardt went 3 for 5 with a RBI, Pena was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and junior Zack Thompson (Salem, MA) went 3 for 4 and 2 doubles in the blow out win. Fisher will now finish out their regular season schedule before they travel to the campus of Seton Hill University where they will take on the winner of the KIAC tournament in a best of three series to advance to the regionals.


Fisher Baseball Athletes earn top honors

Lynn, MA – Several Fisher College Baseball athletes have been named to the Sunrise Conference All Conference team. The awards were presented before the second game of the Sunrise Conference Baseball Championship Tournament, which was held at Frasier Field in Lynn, Massachusetts. Here are the members of the All Conference Team:

Senior Tom Englehardt won his third straight Sunrise Conference Player of the Year Award and Head Coach Scott Dulin won his fifth straight Sunrise Conference Coach of the Year Award. There were also a couple of Fisher Baseball athletes that earned a Sunrise Conference Gold Glove for their outstanding defense. Tom Englehardt earned his second gold glove at third base, Edwin Pena earned his second gold glove at cathcer and sophomore Mike Oliveira earned his first gold glove at second base.


Fisher Softball Athletes earn top honors

Presque Isle, ME – Before the start of the Sunrise Conference Softball Championship Tournament, the Sunrise Conference All Conference team was announced. There were four Fisher Softball athletes who received the honor. They are:

Jackie Streeter (JR. / Westminster, MA)
Michelle Oliveiro (SO. / Everett, MA)
Brittany Calderon (FR. / Rockport, MA)

Junior Jackie Streeter won her second consecutive Sunrise Conference Player of the Year award. She finishes the season hitting .575 with 10 Home Runs and 46 RBIs.
