Softball earns a split with Daniel Webster

Game One: Fisher 5, Daniel Webster College 2

Debbie Fuller knocked in the tying and go-ahead runs in game one

Nashua, NH - The Fisher College Softball team earned its third victory of the season by beat Daniel Webster College, 5-2 in game one of the scheduled double-header. Daniel Webster took game two by a final of 6-3.

In game one, Fisher used a five run seventh to come from behind and beat DWC. Sophomore Brittany Calderon (Rockland, MA) and the Lady Falcons found themselves trailing 2-0 entering the top of the seventh. Junior Michelle Oliveiro (Everett, MA) led off the frame with a single. She then proceeded to steal both second and third. After sophomore Michelle Williams (Northwood, NH) walked, Oliveiro came across to score the first Falcon run on an error by the DWC catcher. Sophomore Courtney Gollotto (Johnston, RI) reached on an error by the left fielder, which allowed Williams to advance to third. With first-and-third and nobody out, up stepped sophomore Debbie Fuller (Hampton, NH). Fuller lined a double into the outfield, that would score both Williams and the speedy Oliveiro for the Lady Falcons second and third runs of the game. Fuller would then come around to score when Calderon laced and RBI single up the middle. Freshman Mika Wilson (Chelsea, ME) singled to put runners at first-and-third for junior Amanda Davis (Dos Palos, CA). Davis hit a double to left. Calderon came around to score the fifth and final Lay Falcon run of the inning.

With the score now 5-2 in favor of the Lady Falcons, Calderon retired the next three hitters for the complete game victory.

Game Notes: Davis finished the game going 2-for-4 with a RBI and Fuller finished 1-for-2 with 2 RBIs.


Game Two: Daniel Webster College 6, Fisher College 3

Jessica Augusta went a perfect 3-for-3 in game two

Nashua, NH - Daniel Webster scored three times in the first inning en route to their third victory of 2010.

Freshman Mika Wilson (Chelsea, ME) took the loss on the mound, dropping her record to 2-7 on the season. The left-handed Wilson, tossed 6.0 innings, allowing 6 runs (two of which were earned) on 10 hits while striking out four DWC hitters.

Offensively for the Lady Falcons in game two, senior Jessica Augusta (Lawrence, MA) went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Junior Michelle Oliveiro (Everett, MA) collect the other Lady Falcon RBI as she was 1-for-4 including a run scored.

Fisher Softball will return to action this weekend as they head to west to Michigan. They will take on Spring Arbor University on Saturday then make a short drive over to Adrian, Michigan for a Sunday showdown with Siena Heights University. Both dates are scheduled for double headers.
