Basketball splits with Maine-Presque Isle

Roxbury, MA - In their second Sunrise Conference game, the Fisher basketball teams split the double header tonight at Madison Park Community Center. In the first game, the Fisher women battled hard but came up short, falling 57-48 to the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Junior Tiffany Beckman (East Hartford, CT) paced the Fisher attack with 18 points while freshman Darneisha Ruffin (Stoughton, MA) added 13 points. Senior Jackie Streeter (Westminster, MA) collected a team high 9 rebounds.

In Men's action, the Fisher College Falcons extended their 11 game winning streak to 12 after beating the University of Maine at Presque Isle by a score of 99-69. Freshman Jasmin Handanovic (Milford, NH) led the Fisher offense with 25 points, shooting 9 for 18 with 4 three pointers. Handanovic was one of five Falcons to score in double digits. Junior Louis Williams (Burlington, VT) went 7 for 12 from the floor, including 3 three pointers for a total of 20 points. Classmates Casey Pursell (Seattle, WA) and Oscar Brown (Buffalo, NY) added 15 and 14 points, respectively. Senior Ryan Henry (Westwood, NJ) had a standout game in front of family and friends as he scored 19 points.1

Both the Women and the Men will return to Sunrise Conference action on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Madison Park Community Center. They will take on Conference rival the University of Maine at Fort Kent. Tip off is set for 1pm (women) and 3pm (men).
