Freshman sensation leads Fisher to its 20th win!

Men's Basketball

#31 Jasmin Handanovic

Potsdam, NY - Looking to keep the streak alive, Fisher took its 17 game winning streak into hostile territory against Sunrise Conference rival, the State University of New York at Canton. Fisher was down a man from the start, as Casey Pursell (Seattle, WA) was out due to an undisclosed health reason. Freshman Kyndal Jones (Suffolk, VA) got the start in his place, but it was his classmate who stole the show. Freshman Jasmin Handanovic (Milford, NH) put on an amazing 29 point, 13 rebound display in an important road win, 91-89 over SUNY-Canton. With his performance, Handanovic has made himself a viable Sunrise Conference Rookie of the Year candidate. Also performing well for the 20-1 Falcons, were juniors Louis Williams (Burlington, VT) and Oscar Brown (Buffalo, NY). Williams added 23 points while Brown contributed 17 points and 15 rebounds, a team high. Senior Juan Inoa (Methuen, MA) added 7 points while senior Ryan Henry (Westwood, NJ) chipped in 9 points.

Fisher is now 7-0 in Sunrise Conference play for the second consecutive season. These two teams will meet again next week, this time in Boston, MA. Game time is set for 2pm at Madison Park Community Center.

In other news, the number #1 ranked, Oklahoma Wesleyan University lost to #19 Bellevue University tonight by a score of 81-70. That snapped OKU's winning streak at 39 games. This means that Fisher College now has the NAIA Division II's longest current winning streak at 18 games. Currently, Fisher is receiving votes for the Top 25 poll.

Women's Basketball

Potsdam, NY - Junior Tiffany Beckman (East Hartford, CT) recorded a double double in a 57-48 loss to the State University of New York at Canton. Her 16 points and 10 rebounds were both team highs, as the Lady Falcons drop to 5-16 on the season and 2-4 in Sunrise Conference play. Senior Leslie Wadhams (Burlington, VT) continues to play outstanding basketball, as she contributed with 15 points and fellow classmate Jackie Streeter (Westminster, MA) added 9 points.

The women's team will look for revenge next Saturday afternoon, as the take on SUNY-Canton in a 12pm tip off at Madison Park Community Center.
