Texas Trip Day 2

Hello all you fans out in Falcon Nation! Welcome to another game of Fisher College Falcon Baseball!

Game time is set for a 1pm cst start, so we will get under way in a little bit. Here are the starting lineups.

In yesterday's action, Fisher Baseball dropped two games to Texas-Brownsville, 7-1 and 5-3. Although there were some bright spots. Junior catcher Edwin Pena (Union City, NJ) and Junior Rob Mondello (Haverhill, MA) was 2-3 in game one, while the bullpen pitched 2.2 scoreless innings. In game two, sophomore Mike Oliveira (Tewksbury, MA) went 2-4 with a double and RBI to pace the Falcon offense. Junior outfielder Juan Eusebio (Union City, NJ) started the three run rally in the third with a bunt base hit to go 1-3. Again, the Falcon 'pen threw 2.1 innings of scoreless ball. Today's games should be interesting as Junior LHP Patrick Shanahan (Haverhill, MA) is making his first start of the year while fellow classmate RHP Samuel Luciano (Union City, NJ) is slated to start the second game for your Falcons.

**Little side note, Fisher is trying to change their luck as they are wearing their home white pinstripes. UTB is wearing their blue tops and grey pants.**

TOP 1 - Due up Oliveira, Delcarmen, Englehardt

Oliveira rips one up the middle, off of Moya's hand for a single. Delcarmen strikes out looking on an outside fastball. Oliveira steals second. Englehardt walks. Pena grouns into a force out at third. Englehardt moved to second, Gary Lunetta is the curtesy runner for Pena at first. Nunez flies out to first, Yousef records the out.

Camorlinga is hit by the pitch. Warner stikes out swining on a high fastball. Camorlinga steals second, good throw by Pena but Oliveira cant handle the throw. 1 out. MacDonald stikes out swinging on another high inside fastball. 2 out. Munoz stikes out swinging on a dirty slider down and in. Inning over.

Mondello check swing grounder to second, Price to Yousef, 1 out. Thompson walks. Ryan ground ball to second, Price commits an error. Thompson safe at second. Thompson then gets picked off at second on an inside leg move. 2 out. Ryan then gets caught stealing to end the inning.

Yousef leads off with a triple to deep center. Puente hits an RBI double down the right field line. Yousef scores. Walter Blume on to courtesy run for Puente. O'Neal hits an RBI triple to the right center gap, Blume scores. Price walks, runners now at the corners with 0 out. Pitching Coach John Trask visits the mound to talk to Shanahan. Guerra walks, bases juiced for Camorlinga. Camorlinga pops one up in the infield, infield fly rule in effect, Englehardt makes the catch. 1 out. Austin Brodie begins to throw in the Fisher 'pen. Warner hits a ground ball to second, Oliveira flips to Ryan for the force out on Camorlinga, but Ryan's throw is too late, Warner is safe. Run scores. 2 out. Warner steals second. Throw by Pena is too high. Runner stays at third. Second and Third now with 2 out. MacDonald stikes out looking on a fastball which was painted down and in. Inning over but not before UTB scores 3 runs on 3 extra base hits.

Eusebio grounds to second, Price fields it cleanly and throws to Yousef. 1 out. Oliveira walks. Delcarmen singles to left, a hard hit ball. Oliveira advances to second. Englehardt singles to right, Delcarmen advances to second, Oliveira is thrown out trying to score by RF O'Neal. Pena singles down the line, Delcarmen scores. Englehardt advances to second. Nunez strikes out swinging on a curveball down in the dirt. Inning over.

Puente walks and Blume comes into courtesy run. O'Neal walks, runners now at first and second. Shanahan has thrown 75 pitches to this point, no action in the pen as of yet. Pena picks off O'Neal who was napping at first base to get out of the jam. Pena to Nunez. Inning over.

Mondello walks to begin the inning. Head Coach Scott Dulin calls for the slash and run... it fails as Mondello is thrown out trying to steal second. 1 out. Thompson did not swing due to the pitch being up and in. Thompson strikes out swinging. 2 outs. Ryan stikes out swinging. Inning over.

Price walks. Mark Dorso begins to throw in the Falcon bullpen. Guerra walks, runners now at first and second. Shanahan's pitch count is up to 84. Head Coach Scott Dulin visits the mound and decides to leave Shanahan in the game. Camorlinga with a sacrifice bunt attempt, Shanahan can not field it cleanly and everyone is safe. Bases loaded. Warner stikes out swinging on another slider. 1 out, bases still loaded. MacDonald stikes out swinging on three straight sliders. 2 outs. Munoz hits a chopper to short, Ryan fields it cleanly but cant make a good throw, Munoz is safe and a run scores. Bases still loaded. Yousef singles to left, 2 runs score, Yousef advances to second on the throw home by Eusebio. Runners now at second and third. Dorso is now on to replace Shanahan after 98 pitches. Puente hits a ground ball to Englehardt at third, instead of throwing across to get the force out, Englehardt chases after the runner, Yousef. Camorlinga scored before Englehardt applied the tag. Eusebio grounds out to second, Price to Yousef, 1 out. Double barrell action in the Fisher 'pen. LHP JT O'Niell and RHP Yeuritz Monterio are begining to throw. Oliveira is hit by the pitch. Delcarmen stikes out swinging, 2 out. Englehardt singles up the middle, his 168th hit of his college career. He is now the all time leader in hits, surpassing Anthony Perry '08 who previous held the record with 167. Congratulations Tommy. Oliveira advances to second. Pena hits a blast to left field, 3 run Home Run. Nunez hits a ball to the left side, Munoz dives and is able to make the play, gets up and throws across the diamond to retire the side.

Dorso still on the mound, bullpen has sat down. O'Neal flies out to right, Mondello under it to make the catch. 1 out. Price pops one up behind the plate, Pena is there to make the catch. 2 out. Guerra walks. Camorlinga flies out harmlessly out to left, Eusebio puts it away to end the inning.

MacDonald, who is glad to see Shanahan out of the game, singles to right. Munoz lifts a fly ball to left, Eusebio slips and falls and the ball lands for a double. MacDonald advances to third. Brodie begins to throw in the pen. Yousef rips a ball through Oliveira's legs, 2 runs score. Austin Brodie is now on to pitch for the Falcons. Puente lines out to second, Oliveira makes the catch, 2 outs. O'Neal strikes out swining on a knucleball. Inning over.

Oliveira bounces one to short, Guerra throws it away and Oliveira is safe at first. Delcarmen hits a fly ball to left, which got wings, and fell on the other side of the fence for a two run home run. Englehardt walks. Pena hits one into the right center gap for a double, Englehardt advances to thrid. Jesse Avalos is on to do the courtesy running for Pena. Nunez strikes out looking on an inside curveball. 1 out. Mondello pops up to shallow center, MacDonald makes the catch. 2 out. Thompson singles up the middle, Englehardt scores, Avalos is held up at third and Thompson advances to second on the throw home. Matthew McDougal-Shaver is on to pinch hit for the stuggling Kevin Ryan. McDougal-Shaver pops a hanging curveball up to center, MacDonald is there to seal the deal and end the game.

Matt Mondello strikes out swinging to begin the inning, Lerma has now stuck out the past five batters he has faced. Oliveira, the little pesky kid he is, hits one past the diving second baseman, Price, for a base hit. Lunetta walks, runners now at first and second. Englehardt swings on a 3-0 pitch and crushes it foul... all the way in to Mexico. Lerma does the smart thing and Englehardt walks. Or was a smart thing, bases now loaded for the red hot Edwin Pena. UTB Head Coach Bryan Aughney goes out to the mound to settle down his pitcher... I wonder if that ball needed a passport?... Anyways, Pena continues to crush anything he sees, as he deposits a bases clearing double into the left center gap. Thompson is on to do the courtesy runnng. Delcarmen follows Pena's advice to hit it in the left center gap. Thats a double and Thompson comes around to score. 4-2 Fisher. Rob Mondello chops one to the right side, Lerma fields it and tosses to first for the out. Delcarmen advances to third. 2 out. McDougal-Shaver rips a ball up the middle for a RBI base hit. Avalos continues the trend and hits one up the middle for a base hit. McDougal-Shaver advances to second. UTB Head Coach Bryan Aughney has seen enough and pulls Lerma. Guerra hits a seed to third, Englehardt fields it and throws him out at first. 2 away. Camorlinga gets a base hit to center, Blume scores. Camorlinga advnaces to second on the wild throw by Rob Mondello. Maldonado hits a weak chopper to third, Englehardt makes his third assist of the inning as he throws on to first to retire the side.

Rob Mondello crushes a ball to deep left, but Maldonado is there to make the catch. 1 out. McDougal-Shaver smacks a hard line drive to third, Munoz can't handle it and McDougal-Shaver is aboard by way of an error. Avalos works a walk and now its first and second for Matt Mondello. Defensive specialist Zack Thompson enters the game for Jesse Avalos. Juan Eusebio is now running for McDougal-Shaver at second. Wild Pitch, runners advance to second and third. Matt Mondello walks, sets up a big spot for a little man. Oliveira is batting with the bases loaded. UTB Head Coach Bryan Aughney makes the call to the bullpen and #18 Jacob Venegas answers it. The line on Venegas is 0-0 with a 14.54 ERA. Wild pitch and Eusebio scampers home. Mondello moves up to second and Thompson heads to third. Oliveira comes up huge... he hits a fly ball deep enough to center and Thompson tags and scores. 2 outs. Lunetta hits a weak grounder to third, Munoz throws to Yousef. Inning over.

Position Changes: Thompson stays in the game and is playing center. Rob Mondello slides over to Right Field.

MacDonald leads off with a base hit to right. Austin Brodie begins to get loose in the Falcon pen. Luciano's pitch count is around 70 pitches. Munoz walks, Pena goes out to the mound to talk to Luciano. Yousef pops one up to center, Thompson is there to make the catch. 1 out. O'Neal rips a ball down the right field line past the diving Eddy Delcarmen, for a 2 RBI triple. Fisher College Head Coach Scott Dulin comes to argue wether or not the ball was fair. Then Dulin makes the pitching change, Austin Brodie now on to pitch for the Falcons. As he was leaving the field, Sammy Luciano was ejected after giving home plate umpire a piece of his mind after being squeezed this inning. Suicide squezze, Henggeler bunts right back to Brodie who flips home to Pena who tags out O'Neal. Pena alertly throws to first to try to get a double play but Delcarmen did not have his foot on the base and Henggeler is safe. Blume is on to courtesy run for Henggeler. Price hits a hard shot to third, bounces off of Englehardt's chest (tough guy award winner) and he calmly throws across the diamond to retire the side.

Top 6 - Due Up: Englehardt, Pena, Delcarmen

Englehardt, as what usually happens in baseball when you make a great defensive play to end the inning, leads off with a sharp single to left. Wild pitch, pass Pena's head, Englehardt moves up to second. Pena flies out to deep left, Maldonado is there to make the catch, 1 out. Delcarmen hits a ball to right for a single, Englehardt advances to third. Venegas throws another wild pitch, this one allows Englehardt to score and Delcarmen to move up to second. Rob Mondello hits a grounder to third, Munoz's throw is high and Mondello is safe at first. Juan Eusebio is now hitting for Matthew McDougal-Shaver. Eusebio hits a grounder to short, Guerra flips to Price to get to force out on Mondello. Price's throw sails high and into the dugout which allows Eusebio to go to second and Delcarmen to score. Thompson (who is now hitting in Avalos' spot) walks. Matt Mondello goes after the first pitch and flies to right, O'Neal is there to put it away. Inning over.

Position Change - #33 Eddy Guerrero is now on in relief of Austin Brodie. Gilberto Puente is now pinch hitting for Guerra.

Puente works a full count walk. Guerra re-enters to run. Camorlinga rips on back through the box for a single. Guerra advances to second. Closer Kevin Ryan begins to throw in the Fisher Bullpen. Guerrero throws a wild pitch which allows the runners to advance to second and third. Maldonado hits a fly ball to right, Rob Mondello makes the catch as Guerra tags and scores. Rob Mondello's throw goes to third to keep Camorlinga at second. 1 out. MacDonald hits an easy fly ball to left, Matt Mondello is under it to make the catch. 2 out. Munoz hits another fly ball to left, Matt Mondello makes the catch to retire the side. Inning over as the Mondello brothers record all three outs.

Scrappy Doo (Oliveira) records yet another base hit up the middle to lead off the inning. Lunetta with a push bunt base hit to the right side, no one covers first. Runners on first and second for Englehardt. Venegas throws one Rick "Wild Thang" Vaughn style to the scree which allows the runners to move into scoring position for Englehardt. Englehardt lifts a sacrifice fly to center, MacDonald is there to make the catch and Oliveira scores to make it 10-6 with 1 out. Pena hits one in foul territory to left, Maldonado makes the catch but is unable to get Lunetta who smartly tagged and advanced to third. 2 out. Delcarmen flies out to right, O'Neal is there to make the catch. Inning over.

Eddy Guerrero is still on the mound for Fisher... Kevin Ryan is still tossing in the 'pen.

Yousef is able to hit past the diving Lunetta at second to reach here in the 7th. O'Neal hits one softly to Delcarmen at first, who looks to throw to second but thinks better of it and gets the out at first. 1 out, runner at second. Henggeler chops one back to the mound, Guerrero fields it, looks the runner back at second and throws to first to get the second out. Fisher is now 1 out away from recording its first win versus Texas Brownsville in seven tries. Pinch Hitter for UTB, #9 Evan Hardman. Guerrero strikes him out on three consecutive pitches. Game Over!
