Senior Tiffany Beckman
The Lady Falcons were in the game until about the 9 minute mark of the first half. Trailing the Engineers 13-10, MIT went on a 17-2 run to close the half. Freshman Javanna Bernard (Waterbury, CT) was the team’s leading scorer in the first half with 5 points, 2-10 from the field, while Beckman chipped in 4 points. Junior Talia Hyatt (Dorchester, MA), playing well in front of about 15 members of her family, collected a team high five rebounds, three of which were offensive. Falcons soar to victory over the Eagles, 75-67

Nashua, NH – Fueled by a 21-8 run to begin the second half, the Fisher College Falcons overcame a 13 point deficit to defeat the Daniel Webster College Eagles, 75-67.

Norford led the team with 24 points

From the start, things look bleak for the Falcons. They shot at a 27.3% clip from the floor in the first half and could not solve the puzzle that DWC’s Keith Speed presented. Speed lit up the Falcon defense with 16 first half points which gave the Eagles a 40-27 lead at half time.

Fisher College Head Coach David Lindberg, along with his staff, made some tremendous adjustments and had the team firing on all cylinders.

Trailing by 13 points, the Falcons put on a defensive clinic which propelled them to a 21-8 run in the opening 10 minutes of the second half. Fisher tied the game at the 9 minute mark when junior Dennis Norford (New Haven, CT) layed one up. Less than 30 seconds later, freshman Ny’Kee White (Suffolk, VA) took the inbounds pass from senior Louis Williams (Burlington, VT) and put it in to give the Falcons their first lead of the night. Fisher would extend their lead to seven points with six minutes left to play before DWC made a small run of their own. An Eric Suarez layup at the 3 minute mark cut the Fisher led to just one but two three pointers from Williams and a couple Norford layups with the next two minutes sealed the game for Fisher College.

Norford led all scorers with his 24 points, 8-13 from the floor.  Senior Casey Pursell (Seattle, WA) added 16 points while collecting 8 rebounds. Williams and White chipped in 16 and 10 points respectively.

Fisher, now 2-6 on the season, will enjoy the Thanksgiving break before the head west to Ohio and face NAIA opponent Mount Vernon Nazarene University on December 3rd.
