Freshman sensation 'paddles' his way to victory

Boston, MA - It has been a long road for freshman Sebastiano Petruzzelli. Growing up in his hometown of Saugus, MA, "Yano" would practice playing ping-pong on his makeshift table in his basement.

"I had a table growing up," said Petruzzelli after the win. "I remember that I had to put the table on top of a couple of banana boxes so I could play."

All of that hard work has finally paid off. A member of the Fisher College Baseball team, Yano took his swing from the plate and used it on the table. In the second annual Ping-Pong Tournament held by the wonderful resident assistants Joe Aniki and Hilary Ritter. Petruzzelli edged out last year's champion sophomore Gary Lunetta (North Andover, MA) by a final of 21-16.

"I never imagined winning this tournament. It's definitely a great feeling. Gary battled hard. He really did, but in the end... the best man won." exclaimed Petruzzelli when reached by phone.

Along with the bragging rights that he holds over the field of 16, Petruzzelli received a $60 gift card to Best Buy. Hopefully, Petruzzelli can trade that card for a quartet of legs for his table back home.

"It'd be nice to do that eventually, but for now those banana boxes are doing the job of a champion, like me!"

Fisher Baseball Game at
Massachusetts Institute of Technology

For all you Fisher Falcon Baseball fans, today's game that was supposed to be played at 4 pm on the MIT campus has been postponed. The game will be made up on Monday, May 3, 2010. The reason for the postponement was due to the surface of the playing field. It was not suitable for play after the past couple days of rain.

Fisher will travel to Worcester State College tomorrow to play a non-conference match up. Game time is set for 4 pm and the game will be played on the campus of Assumption College.

As always, check here for updates on your Fisher College Falcons!
