Baseball slips up at MIT

Callahan (above) took the loss for the now, 25-21 Falcons

Cambridge, MA - Starting pitcher Mike Callahan (Chepachet, RI) gave up seven runs in the fourth as MIT beat Fisher this afternoon by a final of 9-5. It was not all Callahan's fault as the Falcon defense gave away a few runs, including two miscues in the fourth.

Five Fisher relievers combined to shut down the MIT offense as they allowed the Engineers just one hit over the final 4.2 innings. Senior Rob Mondello (Haverhill, MA), junior Mark Dorso (Waterbury, CT) and freshman Matt Foster (Peterborough, NH) all faced just three hitters in their respective innings of work.

Senior Alfredo Torres (Lawrence, MA) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and sophomore Gary Lunetta (North Andover, MA) also collected a pair of hits in his 2-for-5 day. Freshman Denon Rushing (Palmdale, CA) was 2-for-3 with a run scored in the loss.

Fisher will have to put the loss behind them quickly as they will travel to Lewiston, ME and take on Bates College. The double-header is scheduled to start at 2pm.
