Holbrook, NY - The Fisher College Baseball team lost both ends of the double-header today at Briarcliffe College, 8-0 and 2-1.
Game One: Briarcliffe College 8, Fisher College 0
Sophomore Gary Lunetta (North Andover, MA) went 2-for-2 and junior Reynaldo Nunez (Santiago, Dominican Republic) extended his hitting streak to 14 games but that was not enough as Briarcliffe upended the Falcons, 8-0. Senior Sammy Luciano (Union City, NJ) took the loss on the mound as he pitched 2.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on seven hits and striking out three. This was the first time Luciano lost in his last four starts. Five Falcon relievers came on to close out the game including junior Patrick Talbot (Madison, CT) who threw 1.1 innings while only allowing one hit. Fisher falls to 8-12 on the season with the loss.
Game Two: Briarcliffe College 2, Fisher College 1
Holbrook, NY – The Fisher College Baseball team dropped game two of the double-header against Briarcliffe College by a score of 2-1. Senior Zack Thompson (Salem, MA) started on the mound and pitched 5.1 innings, allowing the Seahawks just two runs on five hits while striking out two. Offensively, Fisher could manage just one run. That run came across to tie the game in the top half of the sixth. Junior Pat Talbot (Madison, CT) doubled home freshman Dave Ferreira (Saugus, MA), who reached on a triple. However that was the lone bright spot as the Falcons left nine runners on base – including seven in scoring position. With the loss, Fisher falls to 8-13 on the season. These two teams will meet up again for a four game set over the April 17th weekend in Lynn, MA.
