Baseball remians unbeaten in Conference Play

Game One: Fisher College 5, Vermont Technical 0


Luciano (above) struck out five in the game one win

Randolph Center, VT - Senior Sammy Luciano (Union City, NJ) tossed 4.0 shut out innings as the Fisher Falcons took game one by a final of 5-0.

Senior Edwin Pena (Union City, NJ) knocked in a run on his 1-for-4 day while also scoring a run to lead the Falcons (19-18/9-0) to victory. Also collecting hits for Fisher was sophomore Gary Lunetta (North Andover, MA) and freshman Dave Ferreira (Saugus, MA).

Sophomore Austin Brodie (Haverhill, MA) threw two innings of relief. Both senior Zack Timmermeyer (Lewiston, ME) and freshman Matt Foster (Peterborough, NH) combined to pitch a scoreless seventh to preserve the shut out.

Game Two: Fisher College 11, Vermont Technical College 0


Oakes (above) led the offensive attack for Fisher

Randolph Center, VT - A whole new line-up produced better results as Fisher beat Vermont Technical College in game two easily, 11-0.

Senior Rob Mondello (Haverhill, MA) earned his first victory of the season as he tossed a complete game shut out. He allowed the Green Knights just one hit, a Jeff Savage single in the first inning. Mondello also got four VTC hitters to go down by way of the K in his 66 pitch effort.

The story of the day belongs to freshman Jesse Oakes (Piermont, NH). Playing in front of family and friends, Oakes knocked in three runs and scored three runs in his first collegiate start. He finished the game 2-for-3 and is now hitting an impressive .800 on the season (4-for-5).

However Oakes was not the only freshman to do damage in game two. Sammy Aljeandro (East Hartford, CT) had a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate. He was out done by Sebastiano Petruzzelli (Saugus, MA). "Yano" had a solid three hit game as he was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Other freshman collecting hits in the game were Dave Ferreira (Saugus, MA), Bobby Ellard (Medfield, MA) and Steven Clark (Haverhill, MA).

The Falcons will finish this seven game road trip tomorrow (Sunday 4/25) afternoon when the take on Vermont Tech in a Sunrise Conference double-header. Game one starts at 12 pm with Senior Patrick Shanahan (Haverhill, MA) on the mound for Fisher. He will be opposed by VTC senior Jeff Savage.
