Baseball
Reynaldo Nunez was 2-4 in 2 games on opening day for the Falcons

Beaufort, SC - The Fisher College Baseball team opened up their 2010 season on the road at the University of South Carolina - Beaufort. In the double header, SC-Beaufort swept the Falcons, 5-0 in game one and 7-1 in game two.

Fisher could manage only 3 hits in game one of the double header as SC-Beaufort picked up the win, 5-0. Senior

Sophomore Austin Brodie (Haverhill, MA) came on in relief and faced 2 hitters, striking out one, to end the 5th inning. Freshman Casey Reed (Ossipee, NH) made his collegient debut as he tossed an inning, allowing one run and striking out two batters. Offensively for the Falcons, sophomore Gary Lunetta (North Andover, MA), senior Edwin Pena (Union City, NJ) and junior Reynaldo Nunez (Santiago, DR) were responsible for the three hits.

Game two saw the same end result as SC-Beaufort used a three run third inning to go on a win, 7-1. Senior
Sammy Luciano (Union City, NJ) started on the mound for the Falcons, allowing 7 runs on 8 hits while striking out only one. A trio of relievers were used after Luciano departed in the fifth. Junior Mark Dorso (Waterbury, CT) faced just 2 hitters, retiring one and sophomore JT O'Neill (Londonderry, NH) got the only batter he faced to fly out to center. Junior Kevin Micheal (Ipswich, MA) pitched the 6th inning while allowing just 2 hits in his scoreless frame. Seven Falcon hitters recorded hits but only one run was able to come across. With two outs in the fourth, Pena singled past the diving shortstop into center. Nunez followed with a double to right, putting runners at 2nd and 3rd for junior Patrick Talbot (Madison, CT). Talbot then hit a grounder up the middle where the shortstop knocked it down and only allowed Pena to score.
