Women's Soccer nets 2nd Student-Athlete

Martucci (seated, center) committed to Fisher

Boston, MA – Winthrop High’s Andrea Martucci (Winthrop, MA) has decided to attend Fisher College in the fall. The senior defensemen signed her letter of intent to play soccer for the Lady Falcons under second year Head Coach Anthony Perry.

Martucci, a two time Northeastern Conference All Star, will make an “immediate impact” according to Perry. “Andrea will contribute right away for us in 2011. She is an aggressive player who can play on the outside along with help lead a young squad.”

In her four year varsity career, Martucci helped guide the Lady Vikings to appearances in the State Tournament in all four years. In the 2010 Tournament, she helped contain the Greater Lowell attack as they beat the #3 seed, 1-0 in the opening round.

While at Winthrop High Martucci was a three sport athlete, earning varsity letters in Soccer, Ice Hockey and Softball. She even received varsity letters in Indoor Track her freshman and sophomore years. She was the named the Soccer Team Captain and will also serve the same role on the Softball team this spring.

“From what I have heard, Andrea is a natural leader.” Added Perry. “It says a lot about a student-athlete when her teammates voted for her to be team captain last fall. Her work ethic and dedication will fit right in with us here at Fisher.”

Fisher added Soccer to its repertoire of varsity sports in 2008. Fisher College, located in Boston, MA, is a proud member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Martucci will join a defensive unit that already features a former Winthrop High Viking in Taylor Rich (2010 WHS graduate).

“I’m very excited about being reunited with my former teammate Taylor.” Said Martucci. “We always had a good relationship on and off the field in high school.”

The proud daughter of Gus and Susan, she will wear #5 for Lady Falcons in 2011.
