Boston, MA - It has been announced today by the Department of Athletics and the Office of Sports Information that, junior Reynaldo Nunez has been named the Male Student-Athlete of the Month for March 2010 and junior Amanda Davis received the Female Student-Athlete of the Month for March 2010.
Nunez, a native of Sanitago, Dominican Republic, batted .375 (21-for-56) with 2 home runs, including a grand slam. He has also knocked in 15 RBI's and has a slugging percentage percentage of .554. Reynaldo (pictured above) was also named the Sunrise Conference Co-Player of the Week for the week of March 22nd - March 28th. During that week, he led the Falcons to two wins as he was 4-10 with a HR and 7 RBI's.
"Reynaldo has really been a team leader right from the first road trip to South Carolina." said Fisher College Head Baseball Coach Scott Dulin. "Since the graduation of Tommy (Englehardt '09, a career .444 hitter) we needed some one to step up and try to replace the numbers that Tommy had. Reynaldo is doing that for us here in 2010."
The Female Athlete of the Month is Amanda Davis (pictured above). She batted .327 (17-for-52) for the 3-15 Lady Falcons. Davis has also belted three home runs and collected a team high 10 RBI's. She is also tied for the team leader in slugging percentage (.558).
"Amanda has been an offensive force for us this season." said Fisher College Head Softball Coach Andrea Hayes. "It is extremely tough playing your first 18 games in five different states, but Amanda has been able to battle through and be productive. I'm glad that she has been awarded this honor, she deserves it."
