Lynn, MA - Both Fisher College Basketball teams were able to send their seniors out in style as they recorded wins against Sunrise Conference opponent College of Saint Joseph's (VT).
Women's Basketball
It was "Tiffany Beckman night" at the Fecteau-Leary Gymnasium in Lynn, MA tonight as we honored the only senior women's basketball player, Tiffany Beckman. The East Hartford, CT native, led her team as she scored 21 points and collected 11 rebounds in her final home game as the Lady Falcons won, 54-47.
Also playing well in the win were freshman sensation Javanna Bernard (Waterbury, CT) who added 13 points and junior Talia Hyatt (Dorchester, MA) who collected 12 rebounds. Junior Leslie Wadhams (Burlington, VT) also reached the double digit rebounding plateau as she recorded 10 rebounds.
The Lady Falcons will finish their 2010-2011 season on Saturday afternoon when they travel to upstate New York and take on SUNY-Canton. Tip off is scheduled for 1 pm.
Men's Basketball
The seven seniors combined for 77 points as the Men's Basketball team inched closer to their second Sunrise Conference regular season title with a 90-83 victory over College of St. Joseph's.
Senior Christiaan Hammond (Seattle, WA) led all scorers with 29 points. Tri-captains Casey Pursell (Seattle, WA) and Louis Williams (Burlington, VT) added 21 and 19 respectively. Williams also handed out 8 assists on the night. He is now just 74 points shy of reaching the 2,000 career point mark.
Senior tri-captain Oscar Brown (Buffalo, NY) chipped in 6 points while collecting 6 rebounds. Other seniors Shomari Moore (New Brunswick, NJ) - 2 points, Derek Hall (Hampden, MA) - 2 rebounds, and Daniel Nance (Brooklyn, NY) all played well in the senior night win.
The Falcons (12-14/8-3) will look to lock up the overall #1 seed and Sunrise Conference title as they travel to SUNY-Canton. With a win, Fisher will capture its second SC regular season title and become the #1 seed in the upcoming Conference Tournament which is being held in Windham, ME.
