Haverhill, MA – The Fisher Baseballl team team continued its offensive trend as they routed fellow Sunrise Conference member, College of Saint Joseph’s, in two straight games. In game one, freshman Richie Welch (Everett, MA) and sophomore Reynaldo Nunez (Santo Domingo, DR) paced the Fisher attack with three hits. Also recording a muti-hit game were senior Jesse Avalos (Haverhill, MA), who was 2-3, sophomore Matthew McDougal-Shaver (Minneapolis, MN), 2-4, and sophomore Mike Oliveira (Tewksbury, MA), 2-3. Freshman Joe Aniki (Thomaston, CT) joined in on the 19 hit attack as he recorded a hit in his first college at bat. Sophomore Kevin Ryan (Cheshire, CT) dealt 5 innings of 2 hit ball, allowing 3 runs (a two run HR and a RBI double) to earn his second win of the season. Fisher won the game by a final score of 18-3.
In the second game, four different Fisher players recorded a three hit game. Juniors Zack Thompson (Salem, MA), who was 3-5 with 4 RBI’s, and Jon Olivo (Boston, MA), who went 3-4 with 3 RBI’s. Both Nunez and freshman Matthew Hendy (Rockport, MA) were a perfect 3-3. On the mound sophomore Kevin Michael (Ipswich, MA) pitched 5 innings, scattering 3 this while allowing two CSJ runners to cross the plate. With the win, Micheal improves to 3-3 on the season and Fisher improved to 19-15. Final score in game two was Fisher 19, College of Saint Joseph’s 2.
