Haverhill, MA - The Fisher College Baseball team lost more than just their game last night in Haverhill Stadium. Junior Rob Mondello, who started the game on the mound, was hit with a line drive just above the knee cap from the second batter he faced. Mondello will likely be out 1-2 weeks. Fisher wound up losing to Fitchburg State 10-2. Senior Tom Englehardt (Haverhill, MA) and sophomore Kevin Ryan (Chesire, CT) led the Falcons with 2-4 nights. Also collecting hits for Fisher College were juniors Edwin Pena (Union City, NJ) and Juan Eusebio (Union City, NJ) and senior Eddy Delcarmen (Boston, MA).
Fitchburg State's offensive attack was paced by senior Andy Sauer, who was 3-5 and 2 RBIs. Senior Nick Ryan (Lowell, MA) kept the Fisher offense quiet all night, going 7 2/3 innings and surrendering 2 runs on 7 hits.
Fisher College returns to Haverhill Stadium on Friday afternoon when they host the University of Maine at Farmington. Game time is set for 3pm.
