Men's Basketball
Potsdam, NY - Looking to keep the streak alive, Fisher took its 17 game winning streak into hostile territory against Sunrise Conference rival, the State University of New York at Canton. Fisher was down a man from the start, as Casey Pursell (Seattle, WA) was out due to an undisclosed health reason. Freshman Kyndal Jones (Suffolk, VA) got the start in his place, but it was his classmate who stole the show. Freshman Jasmin Handanovic (Milford, NH) put on an amazing 29 point, 13 rebound display in an important road win, 91-89 over SUNY-Canton. With his performance, Handanovic has made himself a viable Sunrise Conference Rookie of the Year candidate. Also performing well for the 20-1 Falcons, were juniors Louis Williams (Burlington, VT) and Oscar Brown (Buffalo, NY). Williams added 23 points while Brown contributed 17 points and 15 rebounds, a team high. Senior Juan Inoa (Methuen, MA) added 7 points while senior Ryan Henry (Westwood, NJ) chipped in 9 points.
Fisher is now 7-0 in Sunrise Conference play for the second consecutive season. These two teams will meet again next week, this time in Boston, MA. Game time is set for 2pm at Madison Park Community Center.
In other news, the number #1 ranked, Oklahoma Wesleyan University lost to #19 Bellevue University tonight by a score of 81-70. That snapped OKU's winning streak at 39 games. This means that Fisher College now has the NAIA Division II's longest current winning streak at 18 games. Currently, Fisher is receiving votes for the Top 25 poll.
Women's Basketball
Potsdam, NY - Junior Tiffany Beckman (East Hartford, CT) recorded a double double in a 57-48 loss to the State University of New York at Canton. Her 16 points and 10 rebounds were both team highs, as the Lady Falcons drop to 5-16 on the season and 2-4 in Sunrise Conference play. Senior Leslie Wadhams (Burlington, VT) continues to play outstanding basketball, as she contributed with 15 points and fellow classmate Jackie Streeter (Westminster, MA) added 9 points.
The women's team will look for revenge next Saturday afternoon, as the take on SUNY-Canton in a 12pm tip off at Madison Park Community Center.

Wadhams, Fisher women roll to second consecutive win
Paul Smiths, NY - In their most impressive victory of the season, the Fisher College Women's Basketball team beat Sunrise Conference opponent, Paul Smiths College, tonight by a score of 63-20. Senior Leslie Wadhams (Burlington, VT) recorded her fifth double-double of the season as she scored 15 points (game high) and collected 12 rebounds (also a game high). Junior Tiffany Beckman (East Hartford, CT) added 14 points, while senior Jackie Streeter (Westminster, MA) and freshman Darniesha Ruffin (Stoughton, MA) contributed 10 points each. Other Lady Falcons that recorded points were senior Kianesha Dennis (Lynn, MA), who had 8 points, and both sophomore Talia Hyatt (Dorchester, MA) and freshman Natasha McFadden (Lynn, MA) chipped in 4 points a piece. With the win, the Lady Falcons improve to 5-15 on the season and 2-3 in Sunrise Conference play. Tomorrow they will face off with SUNY-Canton, who currently holds the #4 spot in the Sunrise Conference Tournament. Game time is set for 6pm.

All 7 Falcons that played scored, as senior Ryan Henry (Westwood, NJ) led the team with 30 points. Junior Casey Pursell (Seattle, WA) added 20 points in the victory while fellow classmate, Louis Williams (Burlington, VT) chipped in with 13 points. Leading the team with 11 rebounds was junior Oscar Brown (Buffalo, NY), who also scored 8 points. Freshman Kyndal Jones (Suffolk, VA) and Rich Brewer (Wethersfield, CT) added 7 and 6 points, respectively, while senior Juan Inoa (Methuen, MA) contributed with 5 points. With the win, the Men improve to 19-1 on the season with an unblemished 6-0 record in Sunrise Conference play. Fisher will look to continue the streak tomorrow night at SUNY-Canton. Game time is set for 8pm.

Pursell, Handanovic extend Fisher's winning streak to 16 games
Roxbury, MA - Scoring 19 points apiece, junior Casey Pursell (Seattle, WA) and freshman Jasmin Handanovic (Milford, NH) led the Fisher Men's Basketball team to its 18th win of the season and 16th in a row.
After a back and forth first half, Daniel Webster College (Nashua, NH / 5-9) matched the Falcon offense and found themselves tied at 40 when the halftime horn sounded. Guided by Pursell and Handanovic, Fisher got key contributions from junior Louis Williams (Burlington, VT), who recorded 17 points, and senior Ryan Henry (Westwood, NJ), who added 16 points in the victory. Junior Oscar Brown (Buffalo, NY) had a big day along the boards, as he collected 10 rebounds.
With the victory, the Fisher Men's Basketball team finished up its non-conference schedule and finished with a 13-1 record. Fisher will look to add to the streak this weekend, as they travel to upstate New York and take on Sunrise Conference rivals, Paul Smiths College (Friday night) and SUNY-Canton (Saturday night).
Henry, Handanovic take home Sunrise Conference Honors
Canton, NY - It was announced today that Fisher College senior Ryan Henry (Westwood, NJ) was named Sunrise Conference Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week for the week of January 18th-January 24th.
Henry averaged 21.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 4.5 steals shooting 48 percent from the floor and 70 percent from the line in leading the 17-1 / 5-0 Falcons to an undefeated week. Ryan scored 21 points, eight rebounds and six steals in an 83-53 win over Vermont Technical College and then had 22 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals in a 92-85 win over the College of St. Joseph.
Also, freshman Jasmin Handanovic (Milford, NH) was named Sunrise Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week of January 18th - January 24th. This is the third time this season Handanoivc has won the award.
Handanovic averaged 11.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists. Jasmin posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds in an 83-53 win over Vermont Technical College. He then had eight points, seven rebounds and two assists in a 92-85 win over the College of St. Joseph.

Brown helps Fisher beat CSJ, 92-85
Roxbury, MA - Both the Men's and Women's Basketball teams capture victory with wins over the College of Saint Joseph.
In the men's game, junior Oscar Brown (Buffalo, NY) scored 20 points and collected 9 rebounds as the Men improved to 5-0 in Sunrise Conference play and 17-1 on the season. Also shining on the court for the Falcons, were senior Ryan Henry (Westwood, NJ), junior Casey Pursell (Seattle, WA) and Louis Williams (Burlington, VT). Henry scored a team high 22 points while Pursell added a double double (19 points, 10 rebounds) and Williams chipped in 19 points.
The Falcons will return to action in a non conference game against Daniel Webster College. Game time is set for 7pm at Madison Park Community Center.
In women's action, junior Tiffany Beckman (East Hartford, CT) scored a game high 23 points as the Lady Falcons win by a score of 59-52. Seniors Jackie Streeter (Westminster, MA) and Leslie Wadhams (Burlington, VT) added 14 points and 10 points, respectively, in the victory. With the win the women improve to 4-15 on the season and 1-3 in Sunrise Conference play.
The Lady Falcons will travel to Paul Smiths College, for their next game, this weekend for their first road Conference game of the season.

Henry leads Fisher to its 16th win of the season
Roxbury, MA - Fisher College improves to 16-1 and 4-0 in the Sunrise Conference, with a 83-53 victory over visiting Vermont Technical College. Senior Ryan Henry (Westwood, NJ) paced the red hot Falcon offense with 21 points. Freshman sensation Jasmin Handanovic (Milford, NH) added 15 points and 11 rebounds while both juniors Casey Pursell (Seattle, WA) and Oscar Brown (Buffalo, NY) contributed 14 points respectively. Pursell also led the team with 15 rebounds. Junior Louis Williams (Burlington, VT) chipped in 12 points. Head Coach David Lindberg successfully used his entire bench tonight as freshmen Rich Brewer (Wethersfield, CT) and Kyndal Jones (Suffolk, VA) saw quality minutes as did senior Juan Inoa (Methuen, MA).
The Falcons will try to continue on their impressive 14 game winning streak, when they take on the College of St. Joseph (VT). Game time is set for 12pm (women) and 2pm (men) on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Madison Park Community Center.

Williams, Pursell lead Fisher to its 13th straight win
Roxbury, MA - The Fisher Men's Basketball team, led by juniors Louis Williams (Burlington, VT) and Casey Pursell (Seattle, WA) improved to 15-1 and 3-0 in the Sunrise Conference, as they edge out visiting University of Maine at Fort Kent by a score of 84-81. Trailing from the start, Fisher found themselves down 44-37 at halftime. Fisher would eventually tie the game at the 13:34 mark in the second half on a lay up by Williams, who scored 28 points in the game. Just a mere 53 seconds later, Pursell gives Fisher its first lead with a jumper from the left side. A back and forth battle ensued and then Maine-Fort Kent took a 10 point lead with 5 minutes to play. With the backs against the wall, Fisher used a late 16-4 run to capture victory. Pursell, who dropped in 25 points, gave Fisher the lead for good by hitting a three pointer with 2 minutes to play. With the win, Fisher continues its win streak, extending it to 13 games, which is the second longest active winning streak in NAIA Division II Basketball (#1 Oklahoma Wesleyan has the longest at 34 games.) Fisher will look to make it 14 in a row when they take on Vermont Technical College on Thursday night. Game time is set for 7pm at Madison Park Community Center.

Senior Jackie Streeter (Westminster, MA) collected a team high 9 rebounds.

Sunrise Conference Play Opens Up against Maine-Machias
Roxbury, MA - The Fisher College Basketball teams opened up their 2010 Sunrise Conference play tonight against the University of Maine at Machias.
In the women's match up, Fisher battled a strong Machias team into overtime. Tied at 47 with less than 30 seconds to play, Machias sent a flurry of shots towards the net. None of them fell in and the game was forced into overtime. Machias would use the extra time to take home the victory. In the game, senior Leslie Wadhams (Burlington, VT) scored 18 points and collected 17 rebounds to lead the team. Also contributing in the game were junior Tiffany Beckman (East Hartford, CT), who scored 13 points, and freshman Darneisha Ruffin (Stoughton, MA), who had 10 rebounds. Sophomore Mackenzi Peeler (Dorchester, MA) pulled down 13 rebounds, her career high. The women will hit the floor again tomorrow night when they take on the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Game time is set for 5pm at Madison Park Community Center.

Basketball sweeps Cooper Union
Roxbury, MA - Both the Mens Basketball team and Womens Basketball team were victorious tonight against Cooper Union College.
In the first game, senior Leslie Wadhams (Burlington, VT) scored 22 points and collected 18 rebounds as Fisher won 75-29. Junior Tiffany Beckman (East Hartford, CT) added 16 points in the win. With the win, Fisher women improve to 3-12 on the season.
In the second game, junior Casey Pursell (Seattle, WA) scored 30 points as Fisher won 104-57. Pursell was not alone scoring in double digits. Senior Ryan Henry (Westwood, NJ) had 23 points, junior Louis Williams (Burlington, VT) added 17 and freshman Jasmin Handanovic (Hudson, NH) chipped in 18 points. The win now puts the Fisher Men at 12-1 on the season.
The Fisher Basketball teams now enter Sunrise Conference play, as they open up against the University of Maine at Machias. Game time is set with the women at 5pm and the men at 7pm. Both games will take place at Madison Park Community Center.

Women lose to Curry, 74-26
Roxbury, MA - The Fisher College Women's Basketball team lost in first game in 2010 tonight to Curry College, 74-26. For the Lady Falcons, junior Tiffany Beckman (East Hartford, CT) scored 12 points to pace the offense.
Fisher will return to action tomorrow night, Friday, January 8th, when they take on Cooper Union College at Madison Park Community Center. Tip off is scheduled for 6pm.
